International Baccalaureate

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) partners with over 5000 schools in 156 countries to provide academic programs that are internationally-developed, internationally-minded and internationally-recognized. The central mission of the IB Organization is to create a better world through education.

Cleveland High School was authorized as an IB World School in 2000. Since then, we have worked to embrace the mission of the International Baccalaureate to "develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect" by ensuring that all CHS students have opportunities to engage in relevant and authentic academic coursework across the curriculum. 

All Cleveland juniors and seniors participate in four IB courses, including IB junior and senior English, IB History of the Americas and IB Biology. Students may elect to take additional courses based on their personal interests. In addition to participating in globally-minded academic course offerings, CHS students have the opportunity to register for exams at the end of a course and earn an IB Diploma or an IB subject certificate in one or more Diploma Programme Courses. Students who register and participate in IB assessments can earn college credit while in high school.

ALL CHS students and families should be aware of and in compliance with the Academic Integrity Policy, regardless of their level of IB participation.
